The Turn will be published in January 2027

I’m excited to announce that Koehler Books is publising The Turn, the sequel to Replay Earth, this coming January. In The Turn, we fast forward to 2099. Climate change continues to wreak havoc. Governments are disappearing under the weight of constant disasters and strife. There are billions of refugees looking for homes. Raefe Epstein Miller, the hero of Replay Earth is now an old man and struggling to see the way forward. He meets two teenagers from a privileged corporate enclave who want to rebel and do something positive for the future. Together they fight New Kendall Corp., the most powerful transnational oligarchy, and find themselves in Hudson’s Bay. They join a budding utopian community that’s making progress but also discovering many obstacles that stand in the way. It’s a wild and thought provoking ride.

What I’m reading these days
I just finished Neal Asher’s Dark Diamond, the first in a new series he’s calling Time’s Shadow. I can’t say I loved it, but you can read my review on Goodreads. The book is long on embodied AI and short on people, a formula that equals boring to me.
